Some time between mid 1977 and 1980.

Written off (insurance purposes but easily repairable) by an elderly gentleman in a Granada.
Sold on to a specialist who did re-build the car. Currently registered and MOTd somewhere in the east of England( Ipswich area ? ). I've been trying to contact the present owner, so far without success. If you bump into him at the filling station, please let him know. :)

Is that a recent photo, Gordon? In the early 70s I was working on a radar speed meter for the big SRN4 hovercraft, a problem being that it rarely pointed in the direction it travelled. We designed a solution but it was never tried and nowadays I expect they use GPS. It was a terrible environment for electronics hanging on the back.

Meg,
Not too recent - 19.8.1989. The (swiss) guy in the picture came across, he had crashed his elan at Brands....
(I was also in electronics by the way - the hovercraft environment wasn't that great for humans either, especially when the sea was rough - one time after embarking on the french side I had to sit for 15mins until my full body pins and needles went away...)
