Heard a rumor about it being at the Glen a month ago, this topic over on Lotus Talk Says Lime Rock. Anyone know any more or is this just a wait and see thing until the cement hardens?

http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f333/lo ... ut-121313/

Either one would be nice for me, both would attract a large group of moldies, I mean vintage Lotus as well as the more recent types. Have a great weekend

I don't think specifics were given, just Connecticut, over Labor Day. Some talk about Monticello for track day.

It was announced at LOG 32 that LOG 33 will be at Lime Rock on Labor Day weekend.

It should make for a busy weekend for many that would be at Lime Rock either racing, supporting those that race, or those that have a table at the swap meet. Not much happening on Sunday so I would imagine the bulk of Lotus Limited activities to take place on this day. In any event I would think that it will draw quite a lot of cars/owners, if Gettysburg is any indication. My advice is once the event is finalized to book early if you think that you will be attending.

Here is a paste of what Tony Vaccaro posted on another site :

"The current plans are to hold it in conjunction with the Lime Rock Vintage races on Labor Day weekend. But to be honest, it is still being negociated and at the banquet, Matt DeLange mentioned that Monticello might be an alternative choice. The details are still up in the air,but we hope to have them worked out shortly."

I do not see how anything could be done at Lime Rock over the Vintage Race weekend, there isn't even parking space let alone meeting space!

I used to be president of an organization running conferences for 1200 people twice a year, we booked a facility making sure that it met our requirements then announced it...

It still not all that clear on what or where the LOG 33 will be held but if in deed it occurs at Lime Rock over the Labor day Fall Finally I was thinking that it would be a challenge to get 51 Elans together for the event. I doubt that there have been that many in one location in the U.S. ever and my gut tells me that the North East may be the only location where it could possibly happen. The first Elan invoiced were January 1st 1963, the U.S. probably did not get any until spring, so this to me, seems more like a true 50 year reunion. In any event, call it what ever you like. I had counted up 20 Elans at Log 30 and asked Mark, He said 23 were in Doug Chadwick's panorama photo so I would think that trying to double plus 5 that number may be a good goal to shoot for. I am bring this up now even before things are locked down to see if folks think it would be fun thing or not. Not sure how others feel about it so I figured the only way to know is to ask. Lots of people read the forum, not so many write so I don't know what kind of real response will be shown here.

Oh yea - I am not even a member of Lotus Limited so don't let that get in the way of a good time

let us know what you think

Count me in Gary. :) Glad you are raising the topic early and a terrific idea for an attendance challenge. Already running the timing by my wife to figure things out logistically. Hoping proximity to NYC is a drawing card! Being scheduled early fall is a big plus as well.

For folks considering attending that are not presently members, the annual dues are really quite modest and the newsletter/magazine is a fun read. I have only attended two LOG's, and have really enjoyed both of them; highly recommended. With only three or so days of organized events and lots of free time during the day, it's perfect for combining with a little fall motoring in the area.

Sales pitch over. :)

It's on my calendar. Barring disasters and other snafus, I'll be there.

Anyway, I need it as a drop-dead date for many of the projects on my to-do list. The thought of 50 Elan owners showing up with better cars than mine should concentrate the mind wonderfully. I'm never going to win a concours, but would like to be in the reasonably-presentable category. ;-)

We are hoping to attend with our S3 FHC. That time of year usually gives good weather for British cars.

If we can't drive the Elan we will still attend only we will be driving something else. Hopefully a Lotus.

Count me in.

50 or more Elans at Lime Rock Park next Labor Day seems like a reasonable goal.

The Elite owners on ElanNet know that back in 2007 we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Lotus Elite with 9 Elites and 25 Elite owners at Lime Rock Park during the Labor Day Historic Races.

That's almost 1% of the entire Elite production.

50 Elans would be less than 0.5% of the Elans produced.

And yes, 2013 is the more logical year for an Elan 50th Aniversary in North America.

Gary and all,

The date is a challenge to anyone but I will do my best to be present in my S2 and will attempt to bring along two others.
One is a recently sold S2 and it is along my travel path. The other will be a very nice Sprint that was of a fresh rebuild.

Would be great to see 51 showing proud. Heck if I have to trailer I may bring the race car for additional count, even if it does not see any road use.

Keep them coming!

Gary thanks for the idea.
Mark

I thought initially of setting a goal of 100 Elans (Type 26. 36, and 45) but scaled it back a bit to something that I thought would be an achievable hurdle. Sometimes momentum can be such that what sounds like trash talk becomes reality. Push-em, drag-um, drive-them hard, but be there. I love rats and all forms of Elans, even the queens that some don't drive (smile). Get enough in one place and maybe we can all learn the easy way what all the differences are from the S1 to the Sprint. Words are sometimes adequate, photos and words are better but there is no substitute for looking at the real thing side by each :) .

Anything is possible, but the whole LOG thing is not something high on my priority. I was only 8 hours from Vegas and didn't make it. The problem for me and others as well is we still work and have limited vacation time. A trip to the East coast would be a blast, but to do it right you need at least 2 weeks including travel time, plus all of the expenses. I hope 51 Elans is possible though, I'll enjoy looking at the pictures.
