This GT40 #1047, has remained hidden in Japan since the just after it raced at Le Mans back in the 60s. It has re-emerged from Japan, claimed its rightful identity and the "experts" are re-writing their history books.

Dear Pete,

What splendid photos! I especially like the last b&w one. What is that car with the side vents, dual snorkles and removable roof panels? Thanks for your many photo posts. -Ray

Ray,
It's a Ford GT40, the roof panels are actually part of the doors, I don't know why this one is different on either side. Shame about the Porsche Cayenne and the big ear-defenders- they spoiled my attempt at 1960s photography! Thanks.

Dear Pete,

Why, yes, I do see the Ford side stripe now. The rear quarter contours are set off well by the shadow pattern, and the apparent motion of Mr. Ear Defenders moves the story along. A pleasing composition, Cayenne or not. Good one. -Ray.
