Well since we're dispersed across this fine brown land and my elan ain't going anywhere soon (it is stored in my backyard until I can clear out some Cortinas and commence restoration), how about a compilation photo shoot..."Where Was your Elan on 1 October 2011"? Easy done and can become an album on Flickr or Photobucket. I'm happy to coordinate. Maybe an award for the best photo / location.

Plus some runs for those with mobile elans of course. Alas not me.

Robert

Yep gave it a "run" today , the motor that is.....it'll be a while before it turns a wheel in anger.
And it will be hard to start dismantling a complete, intact Elan that ticks over like a kitten.

After watching the Melbourne GP on the weekend I have to ask if anyone at Club Lotus Victoria is discussing / negotiating having a static display of elans at the 2012 GP? and or alternatively having elans used for the drive around the circuit by the GP drivers before the actual GP (as they did this year with Triumph TR's)?

Catching the Indian from Perth still means driving from Adelaide or Sydney... Which is what we will need to do Gordon. I just drove to and from the AGP (syd-mel-syd) in a nice new car (officiating and picking up some bits from The Elan Factory), so the prospect of about 2000km in the Elan seems a bit daunting (and I would be deaf by the end of the trip...). :!:

I love cruise control on the Hume.....

Anyone know of anything planned? Melbourne GP would be good if someone in Melbourne has connections?????

Evan - I am in if you are keen for the drive and yes the old road (or what's left of it) would be the go.

CeeJay / Rohan - anything happening down there for next year?

Gordon, I have brought it to the attention of the Council of Motor Clubs - maybe we will get a better position to display in 2012. I am also displaying at Motorfest, but I'm not sure if the NRMA is aware of the anniversary.... :?

hi Gordon,

I discussed it with Maurice recently and suggested I raise it with the CLA, also spoke to Marc has offered to do a mail out to all Elan owners, suspect with distances involved we may end up with individual events in each state.

I'll also raise with HSRCA, but understand the Tasman event may already have been determined, still be good to get a gathering.

Cheers

V

Gordon / V
I am on the HSRCA Committee and can advise there has been no approach to date. Further, I don't believe the Tasman has been set in stone (although that is a separate committee).

Gordon & others...

The Council of Motoring Clubs would be a good place to start perhaps? We have a couple of major gathering for classic cars here in the West I could perhaps try and see if they could try to get a message out to all of the Lotus owners, i will see if I can get some interest.
