Insurance in the UK

PostPost by: theelanman » Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:33 am

lancaster insurance does the +2 on an agreed value of ?10k and its ?126 and the AA do the m100 at ?280 full comp protected as my everyday driver...
neither of these policies have limited mileage.......
the agreed value was done 18months ago after the car had been completely redone inside and out...prior to that it was on with FJ at an agreed price of ?7k and that only cost me ?109

you guys are obviously living too close to other people!!!!

move to the country!!!!

lol
cheers

Hi

I am with FJ also at about ?200 for my +2, cannot remember the exact details, but I do not think that I have to garage it. When I phoned up for a quote I reminded them that I wrote of my last one with them and they said no problem at all. The last one had commuting to and from the local railway station added to it for a very reasonable increase.

They were very good on paying out, I had a non agreed value because it was an average car and all I wanted was an average price for it, which is what I got. I also bought the wreck back. Recommended. FJ that is, not crashing the car which I do not recommend.

Berni
Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

Hi,

I am with FJ as well, no mileage limit and while not the cheapest it is actually possible to contact them and when I needed recovery and legal assistance following an accident in France a couple of years ago it worked fine - cheapest isn't always best the devils in the detail as the saying goes.

Cheers,

Ian

Hello from the USA to the UK. Do your insurance companies actually charge based on garage availability? I'm confused. Does this apply to other marques?

Here in the UK car crime is quite high, Theft being the worst aspect.
The reason our Classic cars can be insured at such low cost ie. 50 to 60 cents per day if we garage them between 10pm and 6am is because around 90 % of thefts occur during this time.
You have to agree that at this price, to be able to drive a high performance lotus with fully comprehensive insurance, agreed value payout and unrestricted mileage, it is exceptional value for you money.
Keeping our cars garaged during these hours is no great hardship for most owners.
Regards
Dave
Forgot to mention, breakdown recovery and free windscreen replacement are also included.

Yes but 1500 miles? You could use that in one decent trip

True, but not in my case. I haven't yet done even 500 miles since I put my S2 back on the road in May 05 after a 14 year rest.
