What did you do to your Lotus today...
Fitted the windscreen today.
I'd read the threads on here about the windscreen gaskets only being available with 90 degree mitred corners so yesterday I took the plunge and cut and mitred the corners to 105 degrees (SJ Sportscars gasket). That has resulted in a much better fit in the lower corners.
I used one of these cheap plastic tools for manipulating the rubber https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124146158749 ... SweR1ejYGE ,which I found to be far safer than using screwdrivers etc.
I also had use of a small sand filled leather bag that was used to "pound" the screen into the rubber. When I was in the bus industry the body guys used them for fitting glass and windscreens to buses. That was also an improvement on just slapping the glass with my fist.
I'm going to let it settle a day or two before attempting the plastic filler trim, but so far I'm pretty satisfied.

Looks to be the same level as the clutch pedal, which seems like it may be a good idea, but I have never heard anyone discuss dead pedal design issues. I would imagine the foot easily moves to the clutch and back to rest. John
After driving with mine for awhile, I’m very happy with it. If I want I can still stretch out my left leg by moving my foot up the pedal.
Mine’s a bit higher than the clutch, Foxie’s looks to be a bit lower, I think that’s a ‘build to suit’ kind of thing. The common aspect is cutting a relief to give room for the widest part if your foot to miss the dead pedal when depressing the clutch.
Mine is bolted to the fwd bulkhead, Foxie’s to thar bulkhead and the floor. Mine is a bit above the floor. Mine is wood, not sure which is lighter, but mine is maybe 4-5 ounces. Love his lightening holes, though.

"OEW" is back on the road...
After a big, long service on her.
Initially she needed only rear brakes overhaul, and gearbox extention seal, but finally a new water pump, plus gearbox & engine silentblocs, track Rod End Ball Joints & front wheel bearings...
Now it's time to celebrate... nearly 60!

Last weekend was -very- busy:
Discovering a fuel tank losing its precious contents, I ordered a new one, made of aluminum (TTR), changed all seals and rubbers, finished with a keyed filler cap(SJSportsCars).
Just to say that the old tank was completely rotten from underneath, thanks to small holes that had let water through. Not a real leak, but drop after drop, it could have been dangerous if not explosive!
Next week-end, we ll have our first Lotus Elan's Meeting, and will honor its 60th anniversary in Le Touquet & Hardelot's beaches.

"OEW" made it to Le Touquet...
No surprise, the mileage was quite low, 250km , but I had a small brake issue when driving down to the village for fuel. Back home, this what I discovered:
I asked for hands around the neighborhood, and half an hour later the car was good enough to do its duty , saturday 5 o'clock AM. Fautly rear caliper banjo, in need of freedom...
One last picture, arrival to the meeting point, the beach of Hardelot: 20 Elan and at least two models of each type.
