Silver soldered?? Curious as to the flux and solder make up. Beautiful work!

It is an absolute work of art, Ralph. Just lovely in its simple elegance. You have created something to be admired indeed!

I'm very pleased that Ralph agreed to sell me his masterful creation of his scale hand built Elan chassis. It is truly spectacular in every detail. The craftsmanship is extremely well done and this is now one of my most prized Lotus possessions in my collection.

If Ralph decides to build more, I would not hesitate to place your order now. You will not be disappointed at any price.

Thanks for all the kind words folks.

I'm hoping to get the engine back in my Sprint over the next few days so there's a window of opportunity there after that to start another chassis if anyone's interested.

Not sure if this is something I'll always be able to do as a few other interesting projects are beckoning.... :)

Ralph.

It needed to match the colour scheme for the rest of the house in order to get permission to turn it into a light fitting :D

Rohan, you must have a very special wife who allows a chassis to be hung in the house. My spare chassis is confined to the garage on a wall. I am interested in how this is a light fixture, can you show more details?

It spent 20 years under the house before I built the new beach house in the late 90's where it now resides.
I had it sand blasted and painted as it was not worth repairing due to some major damage on the right front corner that had been badly repaired before I got the car back in the mid 70's.

It hangs over the kitchen bench and has 4 down lights fixed to the end corners of the backbone bottom flanges. You can see the power cable running down one of the support wires.

I will see if i can dig up some photos from below. If I cant I will take some next weekend when i am down there.

Cheers
