Hi everyone, I'm new here and...

I have an S1 Elan in the UK, and want to restore it.

But sometime during the last 40 years I lost the logbook (was the old hand written style) and reg plates.
I know my chassis number of course, can anyone tell me how I can re-trace my car's reg number?

I've contacted the DVLA, but they cant help me because I never had the new logbook, V5.
I can't remember my car's reg number and have searched through my photo albums, but no luck.

I have trawled through the search of this site, but, oh, there is so much info!
I haven't found a link to how I should trace my car's reg number.

Any hints would be appreciated, my little S1 was so lovely, and I want to bring her back.

Why don't you start by posting what you do know, chassis #, where you bought it, when, etc.. Maybe something will connect with someone here. :)
We are supposed to be having fun, are we not?

Longshot perhaps but if you can get the front grille into the light you might just see the outline of the reg no. on the grille itself.

Thank you everybody, and PMed jonsered11.

I especially like the suggestion of looking on the grill!!!
But I can't find the grill, I think it fell off and and was thrown away during a clean up by my father.
But, yes, the reg number was on the grill, I remember that!
And the rear was a sticker, I believe.
