Lotus Elan

New, but old!

PostPost by: nickh » Sun Feb 07, 2021 4:32 pm

Hi,
I have been a member for 10 years but this is my first post.
My name is Nick and I reside in the West Midlands.

I bought my first Elan, a S3 fhc in 1980 as a complete wreck, rebuilt it, got the bug and bought another, then a Europa.
Then I met a girl, got married and had kids. Hence why my cars have languished for a very long time!
Now at last I have time and a new garage to sort them out.
Currently have the S3 dhc, converted to such by a previous owner, stripped and the stressed skin Spyder chassis repainted with epoxy ready to start building back up.

Hi, yes I am.
As to the cars, yes and no.
I have to admit to the mortal sin of converting my fhc to a dhc before I bought the 2nd car.
In my defence it was done in the early 80's when it was not so much of a no no and I still have the roof so could always reverse it.
I intend to get it back on the road before thinking about that.
