Hello All

Recently realised a 40 year dream and got an elan. It runs and drives, but needs some love in the interior as well as freeing off the brakes and fixing some oil leaks...so far, it sounds much like other British cars I've owned!

Anyway, just wanted to say hello before pestering you all with questions!

cheers
Steve

Welcome Steve, I've recently come back to this Forum after a gap of 12 years. I bought my first "old" Elan S3 S/S back , one I first owned in 2002. So glad to be back in Elan ownership.
I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it !

Welcome Steve.
I am in Buffalo, not too far from you and the head of the LOONYs. (Lotus Owners of NY). Maybe you can join us sometime in the future down here.

There is the Bronte Creek Car show, hopefully it will be a go next year. I am not sure we will be coming up for that any longer. The traffic has got so heavy and dangerous for little sports cars on the return back south I am not sure we are going to come up any longer. Just not worth the risk. For the past few years most of us have been cut off, waited 45 minutes in a stopped traffic jam, almost got into accidents. We have been going to that show since almost the beginning which I seem to remember is in the 90's. Its a shame the the driving up there just seems to have gotten so worse.

Not much I dont know about Elans....if you need any semi-local help, I am here to help you.

Welcome aboard Steve.

I scratched my Elan itch about 18 months ago, took a while to get it going but have enjoyed it.

Hi and welcome, Steve,
I am also in Ontario, in Waterloo. Lotus Club Canada is a great bunch of active owners that usually meet around Toronto. In which city are you located? Cheers, Andrew

Thanks for the welcomes and offers of advice and help. I'm located in Guelph, so quite near to a few of you.

My car is a 1968 SS in brg. So far I've just been poking around and listing what is missing.... I'm looking at refinishing the dashboard this winter. I'm hoping to locate the under dash trim and center console, all of which are mia. If anyone has any spare, please let me know.

Also, the car currently has only two of the stock steel wheels and two others, likely ah sprite. If anyone has stock bolt on steel wheels for sale, I'm interested. I'll likely end up with minilites at some point in the future, but figured it can't hurt to ask

cheers
Steve

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. I know someone in Toronto who has a set of steel wheels and is willing to part with them. He’s on the Europa forum and he’s ok for you to email him. I’ll PM you his email address.

Good luck!

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum. I'm just north of Barrie. There seems to be quite a few elans within a few hours of the GTA. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Hey Steve,

back in the 90s I lived just south of you in Freelton, having bought my Elan in watertown in 1981,
but living in san diego means the car doesn't have to winter in a barn.

is Latinos restaurant still there in Guelph.. great cakes and empanadas as I recall..

I second the Bronte creek show once it returns..
