Hello, new owner 67 Elan

Hello, just purchased a 67 Elan DHC from the original owner with 12k verified miles. Has not been run since 1997 after the owner removed the instrument panel to replace the wood. He never put it back together and it has sat in his one car garage since. I have considerable experience working on all type f cars and have revived many long term storage cars in the past. I figure joining this group is a wise choice considering the rarity of these cars and the specifics unique to them. I am sure I will spend many hours on here reading and asking questions but just wanted to introduce myself first. Mark.

Congratulations! You have a special car, obtaining it from the original owner.
What is the chassis #? Just wondering how close the number is to mine.

Best regards,
Dan Wise

Close! Mine is 7279. Does your dash have flat rocker switches or toggle switches? What do your inner door latch handles look like? The reason I'm asking, is some of the late S3 cars had "Super Safety" features that "officially" started at Chassis 7400.

Dan

That's going to be an interesting project for all of us, Mark. You'll have some unusual problems after the long storage but many here have already been there and will help.

My car averaged 12,000 miles for its first eight years! It's usually Ferraris and Lambos that have ridiculously low mileages; it seems such a waste but presents an opportunity for people like yourself. Best of luck.

That's 119 units prior to my 7380 which is a full Super Safety, brake fail switch on the floor under the brake pedal and all!

Thanks for the warm welcome, I have much to learn about this car before I touch it. It came with stacks of original documents, factory manuals and ownership logs. Mine is badged "SS" Super Safety. I need to learn more about that designation. I will not be doing much until life and work settles down this fall, so don't take my lack of progress for lack of interest but I need to clear out the barn to make more room for a proper revival.

Missing? I hope you mean you have it still but it is not installed yet.
