Hi Peter,

I managed to get the car registered after adding indicators, muffler, radiator fan, and alternator for street use.
The DMV also requires a speedometer and odometer so I swapped the tach for a STACK ST700 instrument.
So I get to use it on the street as well as the occasional track day..

Ah, that explains the Motec conversion. Great to hear someone is crazy enough (in a good way) to convert a 23B to street use. I'd love to see more photos.

Hi John,

Yep, crazy pretty much sums it up. Attached is a picture of the 23 out
and about in the Santa Monica mountains.

Hello Paul,

How do you find using a Hewland on the street and in traffic?

Hi Dan,

The Hewland can be a bit of a PITA on the street. I try to avoid heavy traffic and luckily live very close to the foothills of the Santa Monica mountains (so no freeway driving necessary to get to the fun roads).

Upshifts are very easy clutch-less, but downshifts when tootling around can be a bit of a pain finding the right amount of revs to match.

I've also fit a rally clutch rather than a race clutch so it's more forgiving taking off from a standstill.

I used to own a Lotus 7 replica in Australia (a PRB Clubman S2) before I moved over to the US, and that is the car that started all this crazy Lotus desire.

Regards,
Paul.
