Beginning a Long Overdue Restoration

Hello everyone,

Not sure if everyone goes by their username here, but for purposes of introduction, my real name is Tony. I have a 1967 Twin Cam that looks a lot like the picture under ?Does your Lotus look like this?? Bought the car in 1974 and drove it happily for a number of years, until I got the itch to rebuild the engine, and do a few ?other things. ? That started a complete restoration, and then life got in the way. Never could bring myself to sell it to someone else, so here I am once again.

Glad to have found y?all.

Best,
Tony

Welcome Tony! Show us a picture of your car please.

Where in NJ are you? I'm from around Atlanta but am in NJ on a biz-trip at the moment and will be back up this way again in a few weeks.

Thanks everyone for the welcome messages. I am located in Forked River on the Jersey Shore. It?s also quite a coincidence, but we spend quite a bit of time in Atlanta. We have family in Brookhaven, and my wife and I have an apartment in Buckhead. I will be down there the third week in August.

Will post some pics in a bit

Best,
Tony

Tony,
if you're in Jersey, you should join PALS (Philadelphia Area Lotus Society) for networking, social activities, events, tech, and so much more.

Hi CL,

Thanks for the note! Good to know some local people. What do you have? Have you done a restoration, or have you been lucky enough to keep yours on the road?

Best,
Tony

Welcome Tony,

Yeah, many of us know all about how life gets in the way of important matters such as Lotus. Do you know which model Elan you have\, and good to know you've managed to keep it all these years. I still have my first Elan that I bought in 1974 and the 2nd I bought in '78.

I'm up in Gwinnett County between Lawrenceville and Buford. I'm usually on the road for work Mon-Thu (with odd exceptions now and then), but if you're in town on a weekend and would like to met up and talk Lotus over a few pints or come see my car just PM and we'll make it happen. You'll have to meet Famous Frank and Greg too!

Tony, I?m in the midst of my fourth restoration (?72 Europa TC). I?ve restored or rebuilt 3 Elan?s. Read my first rebuild post on my ?64 Elan S1, it will provide some perspective.
