Recent member saying hello with questions!

Hello,
I?ve been a member for a little while whilst resuming a long time search for an Elan. However, a few weeks ago my son bought a Sprint. It needs some fettling having not had a lot of use over the years and has a few issues although it is a runner and not needing a restoration, but nor is it concourse. I guess it is a reasonable usable car. Or it will be when fettled. So, I have ended my search and will be living vicariously through his car. I will be needing lots of help and guess my next posts will be in technical when I work out how to do that. I just spent yesterday changing the engine, gearbox and diff oil which look like they hadn?t been done for a while!

Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find answers to any question you can ask around fettling your sons Sprint. I enjoy helping my son with his more modern classic performance car ( a 2004 Golf R32) which is a lot of interesting learning but advice on this car is much harder to source compared to an Elan and this forum.

cheers

Thanks, he also has a Clio Trophy, one of the final limited production of five hundred that I also help with!

Forgot to add, the Sprint is a replacement for his Crossflow Caterham Supersprint! He sees the Elan as a more practical car.

Welcome Harry I'm sure you'll enjoy working on the Sprint.
Like Rohan I seem to end up sharing cars with my son.
Despite having a 330bhp Impreza he seems to prefer my Sprint!
I suspect his more circumspect driving in the Elan meaning that he gets the company of his wife for runs out may have something to do with it!
I still haven't come to terms with outright grip of the Subaru but it doesn't half accelerate out of a corner.

Welcome Harry, although having met you at the Lytham Green show last week I feel I know you a little already

There seems to be a theme of Sons sharing fathers cars, that's also the case with my lad as we share the Elan and Elise around in equal measures, mind you he did say just the other day that he preferred the Elan ....who would have thought.

Look forward to seeing the Elan Sprint soon Harry, enjoy the rolling restoration :-)

Must be a theme going here - my 20 something son has been looking at Elises.
Not going to be much interchange going on though as he lives in Stockholm.
