Hi All,

After years of wanting a classic Elan, as a family friend had a Sprint, I've just gone and bought a wonderful blue and silver +2s 130/4.

It's a rolling project, that I plan to use at weekends, one or two days a week to do my 8 mile round trip commute and the odd Lotus Club day.

First jobs are to upgrade it to electronic ignition, get it rolling road tuned as the carbs are not set up right so its currently not happy when cold and attempt to get rid of the petrol smell from the interior.

I'm grinning from my purchase, but also slightly scared of what I've let my self in for...

I've already read so many of your very useful posts and I hope to add to them with my Elan ownership.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Elan ownership James.
Still fairly new to it myself but the knowledge already available & offers of advice from those on here has enabled me to keep sane and still smiling.

Regards

So I've picked the Elan up and drove it home (about 25 miles) went very well but carbs definitely need some work over the next few days. Unfortunately, then took a friend out shortly afterwards and the engine over heated, engine hot, radiator cold, so thermostat check first thing tomorrow morning :)...feeling like a bit of a muppet as i know remember checking everything else after the 30 min test drive but not the radiator.

Photo attached of the new purchase.
