As already pointed out, early 1800?s up tp 1963, were made by Jensen ( Jensen 541 and Interceptor ) because Volvo did not have the capacity then. The initial plan was to produce them at the Karmann plant in Osnabr?ck Germany, but the VW Karmann Ghia sold better than expected, so forward to Plan B. Volvos made in Sweden are denoted as 1800 S, like mine from 1968.
