Hi everyone! I am the new member of this forum. I am Emma, 26yo, UK. I am looking to buy Lotus - I really like this brand. Unfortunately I am not a car specialist and probably I will need your help with this. :) So, let's begin the research! 8)

Hi Emma,

Welcome to the forum. It is great to see a younger generation taking an interest in these cars. As John alluded to in his post, Elans are not the "jump in and go" type of car that we are all used to today. That said they can, and are, used every day by people who are willing to do preventive and routine maintenance. They are quite simple cars to work on and the depth of knowledge on this forum is quite phenomenal at times.

Good luck with your search and don't be afraid to ask.

Regards,

Pete

Dear Emma,

Welcome to the forum. Elans are an absolute delight to drive, but they're a forty-five year old car and sometimes require a lot of love and patience. A more recent Lotus such as the S2 or S3 Elise offers all of the fun and performance for perhaps less money and heartache. That said I just saw your other post concerning the Sprint fhc - you have excellent taste! :D

You are most welcome on this forum :D

Good luck!

Rob

Yes looks like a scam so my post now removed. If Emma reappears and is genuine then I will reinstate my earlier well intended observations.

If I'm wrong I'll say sorry but I call scammer!

UK based 26 year old girl certainly doesn't speak/write in that way - read the text carefully it doesn't scan/read properly (at least 3 odd bits of phrasing). Not saying there are none but how many 26 year old girls who know little about cars can afford or be interested in 40/50 year old cars? My bet is 'Emma' is a Eastern European bloke called Stanislas.

If you guys are wrong, you may have scared her off from here. If you're right, how would 'Stanislav' have been able to hurt any of you? I'm so glad we don't discuss all our newbs like this where they can read it.

Hasn't returned since making 2 posts within 8 minutes which in itself is a little odd for someone apparently so interested "in this brand". So hasn't actually seen the replies. Like I said I'll apologise if I'm wrong but I don't think I am (analyse the text it just doesn't read correctly, certainly not from a youngster from the UK). Have a read of some of the other newb threads where I and others have been more than welcoming.

As to what harm Stanislas could do, I've got ?15m due to me from my uncle a former Estonian prince if you can take delivery for me I'll share it with you - if you just pay for the processing/customs costs to release the money for me. Let me know and I'll send you my bank details. Are you not aware how scammers work? They gain a little respectability by posting for a while then miraculously have a twin cam engine for sale. Which they'll sell multiple times if they can and it won't ever be delivered. Just ask Gino on here!

I effing hate these scumbags and wish them nothing but ill. They prey on honest hard working people and exploit their vulnerabilities. IMHO they are deserving of the harshest punishments/retribution possible. The word scum isn't really strong enough to describe them.

I've not said 'Emma' (or Stanislas) is guilty and for the last time I'll repeat that I'll apologise if I'm wrong. I'm just raising awareness/caution or whatever you'd like to call it based upon fairly reasonable evidence that this person isn't who they claim to be (which is also borne from some personal experience of scam attempts and reading other online forums that have had an extensive number of scam threads).

Do you suggest Stan be allowed to scam someone BEFORE we get suspicious or would you rather be warned to be careful first. Again ask Gino?

Our justice system being innocent until proven guilty is all well and good. The problem is that Stan firstly probably wouldn't be brought to justice at all and secondly certainly wouldn't be tried in a British court.

She didn't actually say she was FROM the UK, merely that she (seems to be) in the UK. So English might not be her first language.
