Hi,
I?ve been lurking around the forum here for a while, and am happy to report that I finally have a reason to join.
I was lucky enough to pick up 26/4292 from its second owner over the weekend. The previous owner had the car since 1977!
The car is in driveable shape, but in pretty desperate need of a paint job, a dash tidy up and a lot of odd jobs, but its been looked after mechanically and drives really nicely.
I?ve been playing around with Lotus? for a couple of years now, previously having had a S2 supercharged Exige, which was sold to fund the Elan purchase (and the purchase of an S1 Elise).
Both are a very different experience to the Elan!
My plan is to keep the car original, and as a road car, returning what non-original bits I can back to original (with the exception of the alternator, and CV?s).
On the immediate list stuff to fix, there's a replacement ABS console, refinishing the dash, replacing the lower steering joint and the tie rod ends, a few bushes and I'm sure 1000 other jobs that I haven't found yet.
I'm looking forward to learning more about the car and am happy to hear any advice, tips, pointers etc.

You are very lucky indeed. Boy you were fast! I checked the forums at 7am and then spotted the ad at 3pm on Aussie Elises, which was posted at about 830am. I rang Mike straight away. I did not receive photos till after 5pm and tried Mike again.
Text msg on my arrival home after work was, car was sold!
It looks neat and I'm a sucker for blue cars too, even though the paint is average.
I'm still in the hunt, so if you hear of any others for sale please msg me.
I'm in Sydney and am a certified Lotus nut!
