Well, maybe not legally mine yet, but the deposit has been paid.
I'm buying a '72 Elan dhc. Go here and you can learn as much about it as I know: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Other-Spr ... 1728129942
I'm very excited. I spent 6 years rebuilding a '72 MGB. Had a blast doing that, and now driving it. Here's a link to the journal I kept during the rebuild: http://www.mgexp.com/journal/Steve+Lyle/toc if you're curious.
When it was finished, the frequent question I got was "what's the next project" - kind of like asking a woman just after child birth when the next kid would be. My answer was: "Clean the garage. Unless I can find a nice Lotus Elan..."
While the B is nice, it's not: a) rare, or even uncommon, and b) anything special as a sports car. An Elan, hmm, that'd be a different story. And I think the two of them would make nice stablemates. Both red, at least for now, and both '72s.
This one looks like a very nice driver. Yes, a couple of stress cracks. But something I can drive right away (that wasn't an option with the B). Meanwhile, I can learn from you guys, do some simple projects, maybe, and post-retirement (3-4 years) maybe do a refresh in my leisure.
Anyway, looking forward to learning from you all.
Regards,
Steve
