+2 FROM Australia

Hi all,
My name is Neil. I signed in to this community by chance and Bud?s offer to us all of a plus 2 workshop manual. As Bud said when it came down to it when you add freight there is no such thing as a free lunch. Unfortunately I won?t take up his kind offer because of a lot of reasons but I like the thought of sharing something of myself and our car with you all.
I am the proud fifth owner of a 1971 Lotus Elan 130 +2.
I start with a bit of its history.
Owner number three brought it out to Australia and just stored it on a farm in country Victoria where it was spotted and eventually bought by an ambitious neighbor who spent a fair bit on it before coming to his senses. Onto me. But before that though, some history gleamed from a rather detailed folio of spending from owner one and two.
The enthusiastic number one owner obviously used it willingly and eventually had to amongst other work replace the water pump in 1985 with what that entails and perform a complete engine rebuild in 1988 including a new crankshaft. Still in ?88? before he sold it to owner number two, most fortunate for all after he spent a heap having Spyder company install one of their as I am told, great chassis. Owner number two bought it in Oct. 1990 for 10,850 pounds and kept up the spending with another water pump, paint job, Koni?s etc. Then it becomes vague until the last owner before me. So to me.
I bought the car newly paint with refurbished interior and needing yet another water pump which was factored into the purchase price.
Trailered home. The only drive was with a borrowed set of trade plates, for a spin around the block before it ending up on the hoist bought just for the car.
So thats where it is now just like the rest of us, just working through the issues.
