Hi all,
New to the forum (but have already picked up invaluable info this morning re the plus two sills/seat belt anchorage points! - Thanks.)
Based in East Lancashire UK
I have had two series four elans in the past - yellow dhc in the early eighties and used daily (then) and later a red fhc which i sold about ten years ago.
Other cars have included - BMW 1602 & E21 323i, Escort 1300 sport and MK2 Mexico, numerous Hillman Imps inc 998
I currently have a MK2 RS2000 BUT am looking at buying a 1973 plus two S 130/5 which I hope to view this weekend. The car has a few 'issues' hence my research on this forum.
I will update on progress.
Cheers
Andrew.

Please let me know if you are selling the RS2000

You can send some pics to, or post them on "Let the pictures (of non-elan car) tell the story" thread

Good luck

Hi Andrew and welcome.
Tell us all about the issues, and maybe we can help you evaluate how big they really are!

Some things that seem like big problems may be solved easily, and others can cost a fortune to rectify.

Good luck with the viewing.

Mark

Thanks for the reply Mark,
It looks like viewing will be next weekend now - gives me more time for research!
I've viewed its last six mots on line (great tool) and there's recurring items year on year!
Mainly electrical - stop lamps staying on/lights dimming when others operating/washer jets/gauges not working inc tachometer/main tell tale inop. So I'm assuming all that Lot are down to poor earths.
Advisory on seat belt anchorages - so factoring in new sills/anchor points.
Need to not only see the car, but, have a look through all paperwork re engine work?
On a positive note it has a replacement chassis and solid driveshafts.
Cheers
Andrew.

Brake lights staying on are the switch in the peddle box. Same parts as a mini so cheap easy fix. I actually fixed mine by spraying a lot of WD40 into the switch. Also have a spare encase that doesn't work longer term.

You spot on with the earth/ sill re-enforcers.

The 130/5 really did have issues! Bodywork really bad, much worse in the flesh!
Plus two now secured - see discussions!
Cheers
Andrew.

That is a stunning colour for a Plus 2, and quite unusual now.
More pictures please!

Yes that looks like a Cliveboy thermostat housing; the only other one (apart from the Lotus one) is by Ford and has the outlet at the 'wrong' angle and needs a right-angle bend in the upper hose pipe.
