Hi everyone, I've been lurking around here for a number if years, but only just decided I should join up and introduce myself  I bought my first ?lan in 1968, a 1965 dhc S2, (DLB 696C, which appears from the DVLA to no longer exist :( ) and have owned 2 others; a 1967 S3 Coupe (LUH 437 F) and a1972 Sprint (NVH 78 L). I've also had 2 x plus 2s (BXC671G and ??? I forget  ) not to mention 2 x S2 Europas and my current Lotus an S2 Elise Sports Tourer ! So, you see, well and truly a Lotus nut :D
I'm also into restoring classic cars (the S3, the +2 and both Europas were restored over several years, and I've just completed the full body off restoration of an SE5 Scimitar GTE than originally I first owned in 1973  .
This brings me to the point of me posting just now, I have a hankering to restore another Elan. I know that this will be difficult as I see that prices have soared since I sold my Sprint and even basket cases are fetching a premium, they are aren't they? or can one still find projects at realistic prices? Anything considered really. I'll have to sell the Elise, which, whilst it is a joy to drive, can't compete with an ?lan restoration project
So, anyone with anything they're prepared to let go to someone who'd really take care of it ? :D Or maybe someone who'd like to do a part-ex with an Elise ?
In any case, I'll still follow the events described on here, just love reading about others projects :D :D

hello geoffers and welcome to the forum!
I am also a newbie, and also in devon.........sounds like you know quite a bit about loti, although I am a total
ignoramus [just bought my first one - elan s4 dhc - a few months ago], and have already made a nuisance of myself by asking inane questions
I too started looking for a project, but impatience got the better of me, so stretched my finances and bought a 'runner'! :D

they do turn up from time to time, and you might get someone on here who maybe has too many projects, or too little time [I actually bought mine from a forum member so it's definitely worth asking the question].

the guys on here are great ...knowledgable and helpful.....if I hear of anything, I will let you know....you don't want a ginetta g4 project do you?

Welcome Geoff
I've just seen the topic where you recognise your old S3 Coupe for sale in Australia...what an amazing coincidence!

I have been reducing my stock of 'projects' over the past couple of years, having realised that I needed at least two more lives to finish all of them. If you're not going for the S3 In Australia, I have an S2 project that I'm thinking of moving on this year. Taken apart in 1975, with a new chassis (Spyder or Lotus), all the rare bits (instuments / switches / woodrim / hornpush / crashpad / seats / centre console / elephant skin rubber carpets / hardtop / soft top rails and hoops / doors still built up....everything is there!) and needing a full restoration.

Original colour was red, but painted 'JPS' colours in the early 70s.

PM me if you're interested, or if you're ever heading north on the M5 drop in to have an Elan natter....there are a few others here (but not for sale!) to compare and contrast!
