HI Ross, just discovered this website forum and joined after hearing that you owned SWX 159L.
I am the original owner of this car which I bought new and assembled from components. Soon afterwards Vat was introduced and the cars were only then available in fully assembled form. When new the car was finished in tawny over white which was a new colour prepared for the London Motor Show. Lotus were unable to supply my original order for an Elan Sprint in Lagoon blue so offered me their motor show model and threw in some extras free of charge for the "inconvenience". I was happy to accept!
I would be fascinated to hear of any subsequent history of the car and it's present condition, colour and whereabouts. After 41 years I still miss it!

Welcome aboard Ross, hope that you get the car sorted and the elusive parts are able to be sourced.
I have been to the Cheshire meet a couple of times, great people but I'm more North West so tend to meet with Gordon Lund and co at the White Crow near Wigan/Standish. Get yourself across if you can would be great to meet you

Hi Folks,
Sorry for the late reply!
Chris, I think I bought the car off you didn't I?
Your family owned Timms Ford dealership a few junctions up the M6 from me?
I sold the car to fund a house purchase to a nice couple in Pudsey Yorks and it was they who sold it to Classic and Sportscar mag.
My friend, Dave Astbury who lives outside Stoke on Trent, won the car which he has to this day. I've tried to buy it back off him a number of times without success and I understand it will be eventually be passed down to his son.......could be worse I suppose!
Wonder if the owner of my present Elan CSW 782E is still around?"
Cheers
Ross

Hi Chris,
Well I never! Good to hear from you after all those years Chris!
I'll get in touch with Dave in the next few days and I'm sure that he'd be very interested in getting more history for the car. Reminds me that I must let him have a couple of MOTs (mid 1980's!) that I recently dug up!
Cheers
Ross
