Hello to you all,
I want to introduce myself shortly. I live in Germany and like you I love classic sportscars.
I owned and restored many classics, mostly sportscars.
My last one was an upgraded classsic caterham.
Since first having been to classic car racing events 25 years ago I always admirded the 26r.
So here we go. It was time to build me my dream Elan.
Two years ago I came across one in incomplete condition standing very long.
Now the most dirty work is done and I hope to complete the car after receiving all ordered parts
I took 26r S2 bodyparts, drivetrain, chassis and may more which is unfortunately not the cheepest way....
As the original engine is rotten completely I take a new zetec engine that I still have.
Greets from Germany, Christian

Good evening Christian,
Good luck with your dream project. It looks great. Thanks for the photos. Hopefully I will be getting my next project (similar to yours) soon.

Christian, welcome to the group. Your car looks fantastic, I look forward to seeing more photos of it.
I am also building a replica of an early 26R (Early cars looked like elans but had the 26R chassis all of the racing bits) but we are using an s2 as the basis and will be building it to exacting factory specifications. If you want I could send you some reference photos.
Best regards, Peter
P.S. Here are a few photos, some of my car and some original early 26R photos, including an interior shot for you.

I would imagine that a standard elan would be even easier to cock a wheel as they have floppier suspension.
Nonetheless, well done my man, you were certainly trying!
Best regards, P
