Hello to all
My name is Gordon and I'm the proud new owner of an S3 DHC. This is my first Elan but not my first Lotus, I've had the same S1 Elise for the last 15 years and loved every minute of it. However, owning an Elan is something I've dreamed of since I was a young lad so this is really a lifes ambition fulfilled. The car is in good running order but there is plenty of scope for improvement so I expect to be asking the odd question now and then.

Welcome Gordon,
Glad you have managed to fulfil a dream, I was in the same position and also fulfilled it and I haven't regretted it one bit
I hope the car brings you many days of happy motoring

Yes, welcome Gordon. Most important thing is to drive it, which I'm sure you will be doing once the flood water recedes.
If your car is more or less original you need to decide whether to keep it like that, as Ron Hickman designed it, or turn it into something that just looks like an Elan. I'm 99% in the first camp though have had to change or add a few things to cope with fuel changes, for instance.
Enjoy!

Hi Gordon,
Welcome.
You've made a great choice of model and the best place to seek advice, the knowledge and helpfulness of the members here is second to none.
I completed a complete nut and bolt restoration on my car with much information sourced from the site.
Ambition to own an Elan is one thing, the enjoyment is something else!
Colin

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I fully intend to enjoy my Elan on the local Scottish roads as soon as the weather permits, it seems like this might not be anytime soon though.
I did manage to grab a snapshot between storms so here's a pic.

Very nice, Gordon, even the S4 front wing!
Is the other side the same or have we found where OldThumper's wing went to (he had an S3 wing on his S4)?

Welcome,your car looks great!
If only I'd waited a few months we could have swapped front wings!
( mind you I only had one S3 wing, are yours both the same?)

Welcome Gordon, from a fellow nOOb!
Beautiful car; I hope that the weather gives you some breaks! It's been really rainy here in the southeastern US lately so I feel your pain.
EDIT: I had many ancestors in Eastern Scotland, bit north of you guys though.
