Hi Guys,
i need to transport a Hardtop from Bromsgrove UK to Morbihan France.
I have found "Shiply" where you get different quotes to choose from different transporters. It seems ok but i've never used this before. It's 140cms x 130cms x 45cms and weighs 9 kgs.
Could one of you suggest a different possibility please.
Many thanks in advance
Alan

Shiply itself is OK, problem are the bidders.
You should read carefully the opiniones on them.
Many are unpunctual and unreliable.
You need the items to be protected, as most of them throw items around to make place for the next one. And might place items on top of yours.

Another option are the furniture moving companies which do regular trips to France and Spain. There is a Facebook group called "Wanted Transport free from fees", there you can post your requirements

I did use South East Costa Removals, very efficient.

I understand i need to supply the Transport with the following:
CUSTOMS DECLARATION N° CN 23
INVOICE FROM SUPPLIER
I think that's all and when the Hardtop is delivered pay the Transporter any Taxes due.
Can someone confirm if that's right
many thanks
Alan

If this is a second hand item you purchased privately where no VAT is paid, and you are arranging transport, then yes - or pretty well yes. But in the extreme be prepaired for someone to ask for proof that VAT has been paid on the item at some stage of its life. This though is extreme and unlikely to happen. BUT, much is happening in this area. Even large exporters are having goods returned because of a technicality. And yes, IT IS Europe being obstimate showing the UK the error they made by this absolute nonsense of brexit brought about by a few ignorants.

If the hard top is new manufature, then best get the seller to arrange everyuthing as there is quite a bit about the origin of materials and processes involved prior to final assembly..

Once lockdowns are over maybe there will be someone coming your way towing a caravan that could bring it?

HCA ,
It depends what side of the fence you are sitting on. I differ t agree with you that the EU are making the UK suffer.
It is the same trading for the rest of the World no different.
The UK are now out of Europe which 51% of UK Citizens voted for in their wisdom.
But the UK were never in EU 100% with the new decimal Pound Sterling.
I'll just go down in my Bunker now in Bretag ne.

Alan, have you tried TransGlobalExpress? - https://www.transglobalexpress.co.uk/

Might be a bit big for them, but they shipped my Voght Gearbox from Liverpool to the US.

I just found out it must be in a Crate. This means using a Company to make the Crate for you with "ISPM 15" Certification . A Certificate must go with the Goods Paperwork. So forget knocking up a Crate yourself from scrap wood

is that a recent requirement ? last I imported fiberglass bits (a nose section with fender lips attached) it came loosely attached on a pellet and just wrapped in film... must have been several years ago, as time is flying faster than me...

Maybe a few of us "continentals" should team up and arrange a private courrier to bring stuff back from the holly land of our pride and joy? or try to benefit from a planned trip from a fellow enthusiast (maybe via a "Service request and offer" section )?

Next time the wife and I take the trailer with us to Europe (maybe next year) I will remember to post up on here first if anybody needs anything! (espcially if you sell me those PLS wheels Nic! )

that sounds like a terrific idea ! I'm sure you'll be overwhelmed with gratitude and requests...

ps: I should still have these PLS 14" 6.5" KO somewhere towards the end of a storage... awaiting an offer I can't refuse for me to dig them up, or the right project... ;)

The Crate empty weighs 60kgs in soft wood and must be treated ISPM 15.
The treatment is International for shipments.
before Brexit it was not required because the UK was in the EU.
Now UK have left the EU they are International shipment the same as the rest of the World.
As the saying goes "you can't have your Cake and eat it" :? :?
So for a Hardtop that weighs 10kgs the total package will weigh about 70 to 80kgs
I hope everyone has a Forklift handy
