Is the Spire clip bonded to the P metalwork or has it just rusted together? I have a use for the P clip alone but if someone is desperate for one (or an angled one) I'll supply it and buy something plastic.

+1. Stupid arrangement.

Whoever designed those dirt guards must have had a grudge against the 'great man' - apart from badly engineered they weigh an absolute ton :D

My P clips also were joined with small rusty nuts and bolts!....... no spire clips.

Thanks all. Mine were from a 1973 S130 and I can see how the Spire clip would simply attachment. I sold the car 35 years ago and presume the plates went with it, but I don't remember them being particularly heavy compared to the strut and wheels, and most of the weight is sprung.

I guess there were complaints about the dirt getting into the brake system; did the late Elans have them too?
