Thanks to all for your good wishes I am blessed to still drive the Elan with vigor.

Eric, I also was a young electrician, my dad and grandad before me as well. I qualified for my electrical contractors license when I was 20 years old, bought a TR3A for hill climbing on our tight little island, when Jim Clark won Lotus's first F one championship I finalised my purchase for my Elan with the factory. There were no Lotus franchises in Canada at that time.

The cost was 1210 pnds. - approx. $ 3,400 cnd. at the time. I paid myself about $600 a month at that time but was still a bachelor.

This Sept, I'll have 46 years w/ my S3 Super Safety and next weekend, 4ht of July, 42 years w/ my pre-airflow coupe. I've got a few years until I need worry about 80.
