For a minute there I thought the UK had gone bust
:) :)
Very sad but he had been pretty poorly for a while.

My wife and I spent a couple of weeks in UK 1993, visiting some normal tourist things and visiting w/ a few Historic Lotus friends. We also visited a number of old book stores, one of which yielded a paper back copy of "All but My Life" in very good condition. At the next weekend I found myself at Prescott hillclimb. The book had a nice photo of Jenks and Sir Stirling on the MB SLR in MilleMiglia. Jenks was at Prescott climbing on one of his motorcycles and after a very cordial discussion, he signed my photograph/book.

Two years later, we hauled our S2 Eleven (4DTN) to Monterey Historics and that book was in my baggage. I think Sir Stirling was impressed that I had thought to get Jenk's autograph and he was quite happy to complete the page.

I've seen Sir Stirling a few other times, last time may have been 2014 at Lime Rock Fall Festival. He wasn't that active at the event. I don't remember him driving any of the fine cars there, although I think I have a photo of him riding in the pre-war Alfa that won the Sunday concours.

We saw him there in 2012, hilarious talk including many mentions of Crumpet which I am sure made Lady Suze wince....

The number of times that miss-spelling has occurred probably took years off STIRLING's life... :(

I am surprised there aren't more comments!

Stirling Moss was a regular driver of Lotii and of course, owned and raced (?) 26Rs in his SMART team.

The consummate racing driver and a big influence on so many of us!

(Thanks to whoever corrected the spelling)

I've been just kind of quietly mourning. And wishing that I'd met him. I did read one of his books last year, and old paperback from the '50s about how to be a racing driver. Good stuff, written as a young man still very active in motorsport. I'd post a picture but I can't find it at the moment.

I do also remember really enjoying this:

2012 BMW R1200GS
