I finally got to see the movie "Ford vs Ferrari".

In one scene in the Ford boardroom, Lee Iacocca (Father of the Mustang) was making a presentation to Henry Ford II (the "Deuce") of what excited potential car buyers and was giving examples. Up popped the following:

Enjoyed the book, better than the movie. Another good book on Shelby American, is John Morton's account of working there.

If you are into that period and Carrol Shelby this is a good interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rzq4DeTjZ1A&t=4513s

A good proportion of the whole feud was a PR stunt..... The great American Ford against the Italians.

I always found it a bit off that John Wyer never got more of the credit considering how much Shelby owed the guy.

Having some experience with the Type 14 Climax Elite, this Elite is currently in Japan.

It is a late Bristol Aircraft body with the rare and desirable fully syncro close ratio ZF gearbox. All other Elites were fitted with the non syncro first, wide ratio MG Magnette gearbox. Both having a huge slice of the bellhousing removed by Lotus to fit the narrow transmission tunnel.

Nice to see an early Lotus in the movie.

Cheers. Mike.
