Ask the young people permission

PostPost by: h20hamelan » Wed Jan 29, 2020 9:12 pm

Do we need to ask, permission. To leave low income, and pollution for them to deal with?

Don’t get me wrong, I dont believe in open boarders. Every region and religion is different, and for the most part should stay that way.

But I do believe what we do in our garages affects, or has an effect on others.

Here in Canada. Alberta is bankrupt. And only left with what remains from the tar sands. And no public services or infrastructure to speak of from the demise of the land and waterways. And the government is still subsidizing $28 out of $30 per barrel of oil. Then, gonna use tax dollars to build pipelines to give it away further. Then, turning around and importing Saudi oil for the east of the country. Yes we have a bankrupt Co-Op refinery in the prairies, 13 others around as small time stuff. But certainly no good other than some GDP from the use of the fuel through transport .
Saudi Arabia seems to have savings.

As the last of the baby boomers. All you hippies failed (though you had and have the right message).
What are we leaving, some worthless money?

The first thing you need to do is sell me your car for "some worthless money"

We can deal with all that other trivial stuff later, over a beer.

It’s gotta be a fair amount of beer. One of the reason I moved here, is my friends father was a chemist at AB InBev. The best water makes the best beer. And supposedly we have the best water for beer. Maybe old data from the 90’s.

Which car(s) are you interested in. The impound yard fluctuates between 20-30. You can have almost all of them, for some what will be, in a very short amount of time. Worthless cash.

I bet your not into 3-5 tonne wreckers or deck trucks eh Slowtus.

Alas, all 4 of my kids hate vehicles. So maybe I am in the wrong business.
Guess the ecological footprint is wearing, based on the negativity from my lovely spawn.

Depends on what sort of beer you want to make. I know a small brewery in Wiscowsin that made English-style ales because the ground-water in the rural area where the brewery was located closely matched the mineral and pH characteristics of the water in parts of England that make good beers.

On the other hand, when I was living in Alabama I couldn't home-brew with the local tap water because it contained way too much chlorine.

Not much help for the topic, sorry. But I do love good beer.

The other good tidbit from the chemist, was. As close to the brewery as possible.
Apparently, it effects the tins bottles as well as kegs with the extra shaking around.

Then, we may get a bit more eco friendly. Going the 100mile beer diet

Absolutely correct. Driving an Elan 2000 miles a year is not quite relevant (the car emits quite toxic fumes nevertheless). Driving 2 ton car to buy bread or commute daily as sole passenger is relevant. A big SUV is unnecessary luxury. A 4x4 or a truck can be a necessity due to location, climate or work load. Any SUV or truck in urban enviroment for private daily use is a stupidity and enviromentally at least negligent homicide.

A bit harsh as I read this, but I think in essence true. The world would be way better off if we all would correct sized cars, and at buying car make more rational decisions instead of looking into the mirror or at what others/neighbours do.

Harry Metcalfe summarised it well on his recent Esprit video. The lifetime of emmissions from his Esprit over 30 years is roughly equivelant to one truck running for 27days! Enthusiast sports cars are not the problem.

Agreed, they certainly are not.
The point is, people with sports cars. Have extra.

Not really a valid argument. A truck is a working vehicle transporting valuable resources for the greater societal good. What's more important - getting your food delivered or driving your sports car? Current truck emissions standards are more stringent than light vehicle emission standards. Upon what evidence does Harry Metcalfe make such claims? Like everything else on wheels enthusiast sports cars are part of the problem but probably not a significant part.

Many trucks get their goods from air transport
Train is more ecological
Tesla, Volvo, etc electric delivery truck is interesting.
Trucks are sort of clean. Mine are. (I gotta be honest, most trucks dont carry close to their capacity, therefore overkill)
Here, trucks out number cars. For groceries. Personal errands! People abuse their perceived entitlement.
As in the title, ask the young. They gotta live here!
