I am posting this for a French friend, my CT tester (MOT) who has scored a superb original unmolested 68 E type +2 in very good condition and wants me to source parts for him.

There is a Jaguar parts specialist very close to my UK address so it made sense that we should buy from them and I could collect during my visits to avoid postage, no not possible sir, we are just an office, everything goes out by parcel.

So as they have no advantages for us can anyone recommend other good suppliers?

Now I am embarrassed to say how little he paid for the vehicle but it could not have happened to a more deserving guy, he has known the car since he was a child and dreamed for years of owning it, the seller the owners widow is pleased that it will stay in the town and be restored.

I would like to give him an idea of just how valuable the vehicle is, its one owner from new, totally original, up and running (he CT tested it to recover the lost carte grise) no rust apart from a slightly corroded rear Wheel arch, original toolkit, handbook, service records etc, been off th road for 30 years following the owners death.

I expected a long list of parts needed and I'm sure there will be once he strips and starts refinishing pi?ces but apart from a master cylinder reservoir all he wants at the moment is plugs, points and filters

So any ideas of its value?

68, 3.8 E type 2+2 LHD, low mileage, original unrestored and unmolested in a really nice pale blue colour.

I know of people that have paid more for fitted kitchens :)

As well as having my Sprint I also have a 1969 E Type series 2 FHC and can talk about spares suppliers in the UK. Your UK local company deliver from Germany, in fact, I think it is a German company with an English outpost.

There are many parts suppliers in the UK, in no particular order:

SNG Barratt (they have a French outlet)
Martin Robey
David Manners Group

Elanintheforrest on here also has an E type.

Hope that is of some help

Thanks Mike for that.

I saw that he had printed off a flyer for an individual selling E-type parts in France.

The (not) local supplier was SC Jaguar, if the parts are being sent from Germany then the delivery to France should be reasonable, I buy parts for my daily vehicle from EBay.dr.

Do any of the suppliers by any chance have a catalogue in French?

Any idea of the value? Or a range from a basket case to concours perhaps?

I understand you'd like an indication of valuation of your friend's auto in France: did you check LVA?

http://www.lva-auto.fr/cote.php?idMarqu ... rcheType=1

as for parts supply, it's a bit like for Elans: quite a few suppliers, not all offering quality commensurate to the car and up to original specs... and not all reliable or communicating up to even rather very modest expectations.

Never had any E type stuff from them, but for other Jag models & Triumph TR stuff, I can vouch for David Manners. Always good quality & very helpful when you need it.

My experience is years out of date but my pal who restored a Daimler Dart 15-20 years ago used David Manners a lot, I recall he complained about the delivery charges but said that the parts prices and loaded delivery charges were pretty much the same with all the suppliers, I guess that nothing has changed in that respect.

Its a shame as I thought living close to what used to be Southern Carburettors I could avoid the delivery charges but the world has Evolved!

Thansk for the suggestions of valuation sites.

For what it's worth, Moss Europe told me they would get Jaguar parts to France if you order by the ref. number (they don't have the people here to advise on Jaguar) - they're located southwest from Paris (and I believe Moss have purchased last summer Jason Len's operation in the US, he used to make good parts under XK Unlimited but I can't vouch for all)

nmauduit - you are correct, Moss in the US have purchased XK's Unlimited and later this year Moss Europe will be stocking some, if not all, Jaguar parts.
