He did not throw a punch (Daily Mail report). There was a fracas, which could mean anything from heated argument to scuffle to wrestle.

The other thing is that Clarkson and Exec Producer Andy Wilman are joined at the hip; one goes, the other will. Rumours are around that ITV hopes to woo them and that Sky offered all the presenters big spondoolicks to move there.

The BB bleedin C have shot themselves in the foot. Not surprising given the huge political bias at the top and evident in all their news programmes now.

It was probably all only a matter of time before Top Gear expired; this will have accelerated that moment.

Tim

The Story goes that Clarkson was some where in the North of england filming with TG, in the hotel had "One red wine too many" and during a heated debate took a swing at a Producer which "Missed". Then nearly a week later the same Producer reported Clarkson to the Powers that be at the BBC who suspended him.

I agree there is more to this, i have a friend who works in the Sky News office who is saying there is a rumour he's off to warmer climates. But just at the moment its anyone's guess. After they Bought him out of Topgear for ?14m i believe there isn't anything really holding him there now.

I'm not an old prude and enjoy a good laugh but this is all part of the erosion of standards of behaviour in our 21st Century society Who do we want the next generation to look up to and aspire to emulate?

My soap box is wobbling I'd better get down before I break a hip

Not picking on you old boy, just venting my spleen on my own soapbox, you just provided the ammunition to quote from.

What erosion of standards? I remember plenty of thuggish loutish behaviour back in the last century, far worse than anything that gets exposed today.

21st century society panders to weak ineffectual minorities and gives them a voice far louder than it should be whilst muzzling individuals who once would have been feted as the voice of reason. Everything is taken personally and redress is sought either by public pillory in the media or demands for resignation or sanctions.

I like Clarkson... obviously.... But he is to be taken with a pinch of salt and given tolerance for his faults in recognition of his entertainment value. I don't imagine him to be aggressive or a bully, if he punched a colleague and real physical harm was inflicted I wouldn't condone this. Reports on the actual incident are very patchy and I think that the BBC have over reacted. If it's that serious why hasn't he been arrested for GBH?

Yes but we didn't celebrate it. We didn't elevate thugs, bullies and the uncouth to the status of overpaid celebrity.

Do you ever look at the output from the lesser TV stations, gutter press and magazines? My wife is given the Star "newspaper" as waste paper for her pet rabbits and frankly it's barely suitable for bunnies to pee on!

If I post provocative threads I expect to be "picked on"

I will be glad to see the back of the big headed, arrogant bigot. The most despicable person on TV and the two window lickers with him. What a total waste of space those three are.

I am happy to see the British laughing at themselves but perhaps the wider British population and some of your readers here have no idea what sort of image Mr Clarkson displays to the world at large.

He has a sort of arrogant bombastic air about him which sadly the rest of the world see portraying what the whole of Britain is like.

It?s the same sort of attitude which has probably caused Britain to slip from being one of the major (manufacturing, car producing) nations to one that largely goes unnoticed.

Yes his programme might be shown worldwide but then so is a lot of other rubbish. Often just filling in the gaps between the advertising.

I think that he needs to go (or is the correct term - be sent) to Coventry.

He will not be missed in the big wide world.

Only because Top Gear is so stale - You've seen it all before - It just isn't funny anymore.

I'd also like to know who agreed to buy him out.
Time for the BBC to make some cuts - Start with Clarkson and then a few Senior Managers

I was rather proud of that paragraph as I typed it in :D

Clarkson would have put it differently
The last time someone was as wrong as you, was when a politician stepped off an aeroplane in 1939 waving a piece of paper in the air saying there will be no war with Germany.

Ah, "The Joy of Painting". Good programme and very good painter, made it look so simple. Sad loss.

I've watched most of the existing Car SOS so far and I do like the program, but the constant reference to getting it all done in 3 weeks does grate on me a lot, especially since I don't believe they do it in 3 weeks anyway.

And so many end up with working all-night on the last day... Oh yeah !

As for Top Gear, I can take it or leave it. I don't really care whether the BBC take Jezzer back or not.
