Thing is its fairly obvious when you stand back and look at the specs of the cars, the Much lighter Lotus will be nimble and better for hitting apex's where as the more torque and weight of the 911 will make it a better drive on modern dual carriageways etc.
If your looking for a Trackday car just skip the lot and buy a Caterham or Exige (if you can fit in one). I enjoy Track events but i wouldn't dream of risking my Elans, i've got a heavily modified Mazda Rx7 i use to get it out of my system don't get me wrong i like to drive my Classic cars as there supposed to be but i wouldn't be too upset if i stacked my Mazda, i'd just swap it into another shell but that doesn't work if you stack a 26r? (just wouldn't drive it as hard and it would loose some of the fun) so it depends on what your using it for (Road,Show,Trackdays or Racing) and your Budget.
