hi all
I've put this in free parking as there isno lotus content......
I need help with a pre-crossflow engine query.....
using a single weber 40dcoe and a lynx crossover inlet manifold, the engine runs ok, but exhaust pipe on no 1 cylinder is quite cool compared the others -very hot...........have swapped plugs /leads, compression test ok........
any ideas??????
I'm a bit baffled.....

Assuming No4 is firing OK then you must have OK mixture and the carb is OK given your crossover manifold.

If you have known good plug and HT lead then I would also change the distributor cap and verify that your getting a good spark at No1.

Finally I would check the valve lift to make sure you dont have a worn down cam lobe. A worn lobe will still give you OK compression but no power from the cylinder as no actual flow to or from it. A few days ago I was cleaning up a stock of old Ford 1500 cams that I keep for spare layshafts and noticed one had one lobe that was almost circular it had so much wear but the other 7 lobes were fine...

After that I am out of ideas
In the end it may just be cooler because its in the front and gets more cooling air?.

cheers
Rohan

hi rohan ...thanks for the input...
fan is not involved as none fitted [yet]...
there is a good spark at no.1, tappet clearances are fine, etc..
my first thought was timing issues, but that would presumably affect all four cylinders, not one or three..
..[I have mislaid my strobe light... or did I loan it to someone?.......memory's going as well :( ]
interesting observation on cam lobes, though........I will check pushrod travel.....
