Well now down to the sump,I said that when I took it apart I'd measure things.....apart from the dipstick tube height being 3.8" (now altered to 4.5"...giving more sump capacity ) here is a scan of the sump

N.B my dangly bits may be bigger than yours as my crank throw is 77.6mm as opposed to 72.75mm as standard

More to follow...

At 72.5mm our dangly bit are probably about the same (but it has been chilly). :(

John,

Thanks for posting this, it follows on nicely from MickG's investigation. regarding the 4.5" tube position.

If you get the chance could you add the sump baffle position as there are a few of us wanting to know what our dipsticks hit.

John,
Are your dimensions on the drawing the vertical height or the length down the dip stick? Are they from the block sump flange?

Also when I recently had a sump on the bench I put water in it and measured the height from the flange to the surface of the water. With 4 litres the level was 81mm below the flange and with 3.5 litres the level was 92mm.
That seems to tie in quite well with your figures.

Cheers
John
