The Flying W is another resident in South Australian car that I always enjoy having a look at every time I see it at an event.

It's current owner says the Flying W was created by the Fechner brothers and Henderson in Beaudesert Qld in the early fifties.

The car is made from a Wolseley 6/80 engine, Singer 9 gearbox, Lancia Lambda 7th series front and back end,all set in a couple of Ford T rails and fabricated aluminium body.

James,

The old specials are always something I get drawn to, love the creative engineering and thought that went into their development.
Great to see your out on track again.
I’m back on my 300 and have a question regarding axles and hubs, I’m sourcing new uprights from Bill but need to find details to have axles hubs etc machined up. My car had 600 front and rear mag uprights from discussions with Mal Ramsay and period photos.
Do you have any recommendations?
I’d also love to see as many photos of rear installation of dry stump tanks, Swirl pots, fuel and oil filters, oil cooler lines etc as none of this remained with the remnants of my car when I repatriated it from Singapore.

G'day Vaughan

I can't think of anyone better than Ron Lambert, foreman and draftsman at Elfins when the type 300s were developed. Ron, in fact, calculated the roll centres and undertook design detail work on the 300s for Garrie.

Ron owns the prototype 300 and is the "300 Guru" in my view!
