Chancer wrote:Yes Alan, I usually snipe although by being at the computer at the end time, a few times I have missed out on things by being late, distracted etc, also no-one ever comes to visit me except just before the end of an auction!!
So in these instances when there has been no other bids I thought it was safe to do an opening bid, what i should have done was to make it 99P and not bid up to ?5 or whatever.
I generally place a low early bid on something I'm interested in and then watch the auction for a couple of days to get the feel for how it's going. If I feel it's worth a punt, I then transfer to my sniping system so that a bid is automatically placed (no waiting in and no one can disturb!). The reason for placing the low opening bid is so that my name is on the bidders list, although sniping is legal and okay with ebay, some sellers get a little miffed if they think you are sniping, normally they are the less than scrupulous sellers!
Vernon,
Your experience is appalling and is on my list of the 101 things that are wrong with ebay.
Kindest regards

Salut
UPDATE: No way to get through to eBay on the 'phone, or make a complaint on-line as my PayPal payment had been refunded, so I paid again out of anger, spite and it to make it awkward for Mario.
Seems he has posted something to me - I'll let you know what arrives
He's just put some early +2 seats up:

Good luck Vernon!
As for those seats, I have to admire the sneaky description
Pair of Elan +2 seats, could be used for Elan S1 - S3. Require some stitch work or for recovering. No runners, good usable condition, scuff marks.
If they were actual Elan seats rather than early +2 seats they would be worth around ?500, perhaps he's hoping some won't know the difference.
Kindest regards
