Gold Seal Sports Cars

Gold Seal Sports Cars were a Lotus dealer and regular advertiser in the motoring press in the 1960s and 1970s. I have attached a couple of their ads. Gold Seal also sponsored Dave Brodie's racing Elan 'Run Baby Run'. They were based in New Cross Road, London SE14

I have been contacted by a fellow who worked there in the 1970s. He would like to track down former Gold Seal colleagues Terry Boughton, Peter Davies and Richard Fearn.

Anyone on here have any stories connected with Gold Seal, know any history, recall any names?

Tim

I was involved with Gold Seal Sports Cars from the early 60's and knew well all the people mentioned. Who is enquiring, if he worked there we must have known each other.

Hi Jimco

Thank you for your response. I have sent you an email with the name and details of the fellow who contacted me.

I think we would all be interested to know any stories relating to Elans from your time with Gold Seal.

Tim

Hi Tim. I knew Gold Seal Car Company well in the ''Old Days'' I was living at Meopham Kent.and was car racing at the time and as I had storage room and was friendly with this Company they used to store cars in one of my buildings, all types. from BMW sports cars to a F1 Connaught. . I know one of the people there lived at Blackheath London, a road just off the heath.can't remember his name. I bought a Lotus Europa with a Renault engine off them. Lynx

Sorry not to have replied to your earlier post, which I must have missed.

I'll look at my notes and revert back to you presently!

One of my Elans was supplied to Dudley Davies, this from the Lotus archives and Maurice Storey, information he supplied to me December 2000. Any chance Dudley was the same as

I have later info from Mike Pomfret who told me it came through Lotus Mid-West USA. I think I also checked even later w current Lotus Archives that mentioned the car sold through Lotus East in New York. With all this I still don't know the original color and this is the Elan that was converted from SE to 26R by the original owner in the late 60s and I was told by his widow when I bought the car in 1984, that he was on good terms w/ Lotus Components which is where all the 26R stuff came from.

Still, who was Dudley Davies?
