Bit it was not to be. Pounding through Clearways, Chapman tried to grab top gear, only to find that there was nothing there (?absolutely nothing,? he said, ?not a gear of any sort?) and Brabham scrambled past on the outside, having lost only a couple of seconds in the excitement.

Hmm mexicos? Probably stripped nylon threads on the gear stick base.......you can do that just pottering around town!

Chapman was no slouch behind the wheel, passing a world champion is no mean feat.

And I'll bet the post race chat was somewhat more friendly than vattel's and webber's tonight after Malaysian gp!
