I've been watching this of and on for a few days. It's hypnotic and there are some really amazing cars. I was shocked to see some of the low prices for some really fine cars. I'm sure that the winning bids for many of these cars didn't cover the restoration cost. One example: 1987 carrera for $33000. I also didn't see any Loti being auctioned.

Speaking of Barrett-Jackson, did you see the sale of the original Batmobile for 4.2 million?

I missed seeing the sale but I was driving on the road here in Southern California and passed it on a trailer shortly after it sold. I was able to get a picture with my cell phone.

Rick Champagne, who owns a logistics company in Tempe, Ariz., was the winning bidder.

He told Speed TV that the car would go in his living room. The SOB! - This should have gone into a museum

It seems Lotus cars are not "Worthy" of Barrett-Jackson as being neither valuable enough nor collectible enough so one rarely sees them there. I say that is wonderful and vindicates the reason most of us have them which is to use not to collect and leave on the shelf like Hummel figurines..

One more observation...It would seem that a $4,200,000 car is worth an enclosed trailer isn't it? Why the cheap treatment?

I noticed that too, with what he paid you would think he could afford one. I wonder if he had a brother-in-law with a trailer he could get for free? I've met some incredibly tight fisted and cheap wealthy people over the years, but others who are equally generous.

Seems to me that the vast majority of cars at these auctions are for shows and not much for driving. Which would explain why we don't see many Lotus.

Here is a link to the first Batmobile (pre Barris). The car is currently owned by a couple of guys here in California and one is the owner of a body shop.
