I first heard the news standing on the train platform, waiting to go to work. My non car guy train buddy came up to me and told me the news. He's always the jokester, but this time, he was not.

I'd just completed my 1st year designing bits of car engines for BMW & planning my 1st Xmas in Germany since both of my parents had recently moved on to pastures green.
Mr. Chapman would be moving in with good company if he managed to meet up with them but I doubt that he ended up in the same field

Not sure what I was doing exactly on 16th Dec 82 as I was in the middle of a divorce and it's all a bit of a blur, but almost exactly to the hour on 16th Dec 72 I was standing outside Manor House tube station in north London waiting for the person who would cause the divorce to arrive. If only I knew then what I know now etc etc :(

We had just moved to the San Francisco Bay area from Colorado. Some of the first friends we made here were Kiyoshi and Laura Hamai of the Golden Gate Lotus Club.

Kiyoshi called me with the news.

30 years on- Godspeed, Colin.

Listening to BBC World News in Holdfast Camp, Belize. I had just come in off a four day patrol in the jungle. Had a shower. Laid on my pit and listened in to the news. I recall sitting up in disbelief at the news.

RIP ACBC

Probably rehearsing the Nativity (3rd King that year iirc) with no idea who Colin Chapman was!
