Evante and Spyder?

Can anyone help me to draw together the final strands of the "unusual Elans" saga... I'm trying to confirm that there was some connection between Robinson/Evante and Spyder.
Can't help thinking that I read about all of this in the 80s.

SODDING iPHONE !!! Is there any way of editing thread titles since Jeff left the building? EDIT: now sorted!

Evante was connected with Vegantune - not sure about links with Spyder.

According to this site http://evante.info/index.htm they used a Spyder chassis...at least on the early cars.

Hi,
I spoke to Sean 2 days ago about this, they made the chassis for them until Spyder was taken over then they made the chassis in house.
Sean had an Evante for sale sold it to a dutch guy who then resold in to an Austrialian guy its either there now or on it way.

Pete,
Here's a useful little web site with a bit of info http://evante.info/index.htm

BTW it's easy to Edit the title of the thread topic----- just go to your original post and click on EDIT, you can then alter the title as well as the content.

Not many people know that...

Thanks for all the responses; due to a lack of space and a strongly disapproving look, I have decided not to proceed; we only have room for six cars here and I can't find a lock-up (or two) anywhere, which is a shame.

This is the car I was looking at:
http://finance.autoexposure.co.uk/classicdd.cfm?Account=SHD8011135&VehicleID=AETV74691808&Image=http://images.autoexposure.co.uk/SHD8011135/AETV74691808_1a.jpg

Ignore the blurb, it is mostly incorrect. From what I can make out this car was built by one of the later incarnations of Evante- Fleur be Lys, who make those dreadful "vintage-look" delivery vans. I think the "company" has been sold on again since then and might actually still be in existence, whatever that means.

That'll be the "Sandbanks" syndrome!

Sandbanks: "the fourth most expensive plot of land in the world ? a small, congested spit of Dorset sand where houses of such suffocating luxury and brashness have sprung up that it has been dubbed the Monte Carlo of the south coast"

Pete,
So he should have done the H&H one went for ?6.5k my mate paid to much for his at ?8k so next time I would cough a little louder. Having said that if you can get it at say ?8/9k and it's as good as it look on the photos, they are a very good buy. The body is as tough as old nails twice as thick as an Elan body the chassis is unlikely to rot certainly my mates shows no sign, the engine is good, the only thing is I think they have a cable clutch similar to early Spyder cars but this I suspect could be sorted with a 2.3 Scropio gearbox which has the hydraulic clutch and the stater on the correct side. I would change the seats to say MX5 or similar and re trim it to be picky but other than that good little cars for the money, and will last as long as an Elan and likely a little more reliable (dare I say such a thingh?)
