Is the daily news getting more depressing?

Hey, what a day! What with the Nazi-invented Olympic torch relay arriving in the UK (at an estimated ?20m cost- for the "security" alone) and the Nazi-invented 5-ring symbol being all over that London; my Member of Parliament George Gideon Oliver Osborne ( heir to the Osborne Baronetcies of Ballentaylor and Ballylemon), answered a personal e-mail from me within four hours, despite being overseas and negotiating on the Euro-zone crisis! What a guy.

However, I found the BBC news a little depressing, thank Jehova that we have an alternative.

Im not sure how serious you are with this post. You sound a bit like a ranting Alf Garnet (sp?) or the dad from Steptoe and Son

I did not know that Alf Garnett ever appeared in Steptoe & Son!

However; I take this a compliment.

Really you take it as a complement being compared to :
Alfred Edward Garnett. Alf was reactionary, mean-spirited, selfish, bigoted, anti-Irish, anti-Catholic, racist, misogynistic and anti-Semitic. In In Sickness and in Health he also displays homophobia, largely because he gets a gay black man whom he calls "Marigold" as his home help. The home help calls him "bwana".

Pete - " You dirty 'ol man, you!" or are you a "Scouse git!"

All brilliantly non PC these days!

Some funny stuff on that onion site too - Queen excercises right to deflower Kate Middleton!

Do you know that if that was put up on the BBC as THE news some people wouldn't notice.

Complement or compliment?

Ah those were the days. One TV series which they really could NOT re-run now was called "love thy neighbour".

The Onion is at its best when it is US election time; some of the videos are done with such a straight face that I'm sure many folks are taken in.

...I'm bloody fed up with the Olympics already. Everywhere you look there is coverage given to someone running around with a gas torch and that "flame" given some sort of mystical quality as if it is the only flippin flame in country if not the world

...and this is before the event has even started!

It's a big political stunt I reckon designed to subdue the masses and divert provincial peasants from the parlous state of the country and its finances.

The Emperors New Clothes comes to mind

...and I speak as someone naturally inclined to the right!

You don't take issue with the comparison to Alf Garnett and references to
? mean-spirited
? selfish
? bigoted
? anti-Irish
? anti-Catholic
? racist
? misogynistic
? anti-Semitic
(Just to name a few)
Rather than defend serious bigotry issues, you point out a spelling error.
I can't believe you are really serious with this post. If you?re trying to be funny, I?m missing the humor. If you?re serious, it?s just sad.

James - I'd suggest you leave it be now. You seem to be spoiling for a fight and it is just unnecessary.

Alf Garnett was a 'character' created for TV - yes non PC these days but do you really think the majority of people were laughing along with him or at him? You do realise that Borat and the Great Dictator aren't real don't you?

Pete,

don't listen too the news..............you'll end up taking a 9mm too your brain.

I would take a 9 to my brain......... but I fear I would miss.

Here is the biggest help I can provide. People don't care. Walk out your front door, stand for a moment and think, people don't care and they want my money. Now, say it out loud, "people don't care and they want my money".

This is what I do every day, now that I understand the human condition.
