Not mine or my fathers either

Well I don't know. This kind of dedication just inspires me and I have problems cutting a bolt with a hacksaw. I have only looked at a couple of the photos as dialup will make me wait all night to get through 4 pages. All I can say it thats a lot of metal chips to cut and I wonder if he ever makes an oops like I do all the time.

That's fantastic. That's also patience extraordinaire. Type A personality need not apply.

The Sherline Museum is located near by and worth the trip if you are interested in miniatures. Sherline builds small lathes and mills and sponsors various events for people who are interested in building very small mechanical things.

It is amazing how much mechanical and car related "stuff" is in North County San Diego. I learn something all the time about hidden shops of masters. I have yet to find a vintage Lotus shop..............Rob?

The model airplane folks have some awesome off the shelf engines. Opposed twins, multi-cylinder in line, multi-cylinder V , 5, 7 and 9 cylinder radials...

Someone could make a super cool 9 cylinder 66cc moped.

Mike,

I think there may be about 3 Elans in north county. Have never found a vintage Lotus shop. In San Diego, about the closest thing I know of, is Roland Johnson's shop, which mostly deals with vintage Formula Fords and such. He was an Elan guy when he moved here back in the late 60's. Was a great help when I bought mine, in helping me find missing bits and pieces and offering advice.

I've got a copy of this book in my library. Thought it might inspire me to finish off some of the kits I've started....but when it included:

"...over 13,000 brass pins .012" in diameter were installed to represent the original brass rivets"...

You can check out his work here:
