Saw this on Youtube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjDeuuJ6lhM

The music is annoying, but there is plenty of our favorite car. :)

Seemingly the tyres advertised are not available in a size which would fit on anything other than a 1980's ModSports Elan

843YAE is not registered in the UK.

Anyone recognise any of the locations?

I quite liked the music, anyone know what it is?

Can anyone tell me what the iPhone app is called which grabs music and then tries to sell it to you?

Thanks for posting,

The "tune" reminded me of "Baby I'm A Want You" by Bread.

The music was OK...it was the singing that ruined it!

I found that to be rather odd as well.

I don't believe they were attempting to sell tyres to Elan owners. They were trying to sell tyres to a bigger market using the "association technique". In this case by association with the Elan and what it represents.

i.e.

"Association: This persuasion technique tries to link a product, service, or idea with something already liked or desired by the target audience, such as fun, pleasure, beauty, security, intimacy, success, wealth, etc. A good ad can create a strong emotional response and then associate that feeling with a brand"

Richard,
I agree completely. This video link below clearly implies association with something desirable, particularly to an impressionable adolescent male.

It worked exactly as intended on me about 36 years ago.....

Pete, the iphone app you need is either Shazam or SoundHound. However neither of these recognised the piece of music in the video.

I can confirm that the race track this is shot at is Mallory Park in Leicestershire - a circuit I know well from racing there in Formula Ford in the '80s :)
