I made mention to this as a topic in "The Case For Under Restored Cars" which may have been dragged a bit off topic.

Anyway I pushed out the Elan for a quick photo. I like to build and I like to drive, I don't really enjoy fixing or maintenance but sometimes they are necessary evils so you can go and drive. Fixing oil leaks is just one thing that I see as of little values. You can see this by the looks of my Elans sandbox. Oil is still cheap compared to finding and fixing things that can be put off.
I owned a Mercedes Diesel for some period of time (1980 to 1982) and it had a drinking problem too or high oil consumption and/or leaks - lets just say I was "dumping" in 3 quarts every trip to work that was just about 100 miles. As you can see I always had the right of way, who wouldn't give way to me unless it was at night. merging was its specialty!
My first new Ford F250 was not quite as bad at one quart every 700 miles, this pickup I owned for 9 years and drove 253,000 miles and its oil consumption never changed nor would I bring it to the dealer to fix even when it was new.I have a picture someplace but F250's kind of all look alike.
Anyway Elans are about driving and I do fix them but only if I can't drive it. Priorities you know!
Don't worry about buying an Elan from me as I am not selling any, running or dead - they are all mine
So anyone got a photo of their Elans sandbox they care to share?

Perhaps owners of places you park may disagree

Perhaps you are confused, My S2 Elan is to drive and it gets parked on the side of the road for those boring photos that you all seem to dislike. These are public ways and they are owned by all. I don't do much visiting in it, when I visit I take the F250 Diesel pickup. Anyhow if you like to fix oil leaks in English cars then by all means do so, I'll just add a pint or two and go have fun. different strokes I guess.

I don't want to stir you up again but I didn't say such photos were boring to EVERYONE, only that they were insufficient to hold the long-term interest of the guru-members, (presumed to be the small group of "most-frequent" posters.). You somehow extrapolated that to "you all"; It's a common effect of reading something on-line instead of hearing it in a verbal conversation.
Anyway I'm glad you are back.

Clearly, I must be
My Elan leaks at the moment and no I don't like fixing leaks.
I don't like leaving a mess even in public places either ...it seems antisocial and selfish.
As you say, different strokes

Oil leaks in my elan? - I thought all Loti leaked, like Gary I top it up every so often and accept the fact that it leaks (though probably more than I would like)
Alas no pics for me this week, elan is getting new QED420 cams this week and hopefully a few of the leaks fixed..

Cultural lag?
Black and white TV?
Welcome Back Kotter lyrics by John Sebastian:
"Welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back to that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Back here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back, welcome back"
Welcome back, Gary.

No TV, Omama made it so, me no upgrade - nut-en on anyway but commercials, re-runs, and news about . I got a radio that I can listen to today. I got some record albums to play (this ain't no party, this ain't disco, this ain't no foolin around), the newest was bought before I got my first Elan in 1976.

How many times did you have to move the carpet around to achieve that pattern?
Cheers,
