Good luck to new owner. I hope he/she is in this forum (be it as a lurker, member, or poster) and has read the most recent endorsement, of the forum, related to a Sprint rebuild:

"I must have used the board as a reference hundreds of times and almost always found the answer somewhere"

We, well when I say "we", I mean you guys out there must be doing something right!

Cheers - Richard

Terry
PS Perhaps at ?4300 my S4 can become a Sprint

Don't hold your breath Terry! I'm predicting the normal Ebay scenario of the existing bidders waiting for the last hour or even last few minutes and seconds to place their final bids and there will be other lurkers who haven't announced themselves by bidding who will put in late bids. I expect quite a few bid robots such as Auction Sniper are primed and ready to bid in the last 5 seconds.

We shall see if I have egg on my face around 1:15pm UK time.

Regards

Oh Bugger!

Interesting isn't it, that auctions amongst enthusiasts always seem to find a reasonable level.

I had thought around ?8k, perhaps under the subconscious influence of what dealer prices are doing now. I do know I was remembering what the heather coloured Sprint went for last year and perhaps I was thinking that if a dealer got involved it would get bid somewhat higher. All of which makes me suspect that it has been bought by an enthusiast!

This thing is missing nearly all of the hard-if-not-impossible to find bits and pieces...a lot more than they list.

Try finding the window frames and motors, the dash top, windscreen trims, mirror, heater box, wiper motor and drives, centre console, dash trims, hood frame and trims, seats, instruments, dash cables...it just goes on! Plus it would surely need a new shell.

It could take years to find that lot........ but it would be very satisfying to do it!

Mark,
Luckily the Sprint variant is not so highly prized in monetary terms over and above a similar condition S4, otherwise it would be tempting to some to swap an identity or two. Or worse still somebody would cannibalise an S4 to make a Sprint project like this one viable. It's bad enough people having broken +2's over the years to do similar things.

I agree with you on the all the missing bits; if this car had come available 2 1/2 years ago I would have rejected it for that reason. Although it would have been nice to ressurect it and do a good job, the added cost would have been not inconsiderable.

Perhaps we will find out who the brave individual is shortly, it would be good to see his/her thoughts on how to proceed.

Regards
Kindest regards
