Lots of advice given freely on this forum. Much of it learned the hard way by those that come here and offer there time and experiences. Time and time again that advice is ignored with the excuse (no time, no money , I don't like that idea, or what ever). If you don't have the time/money to do it right, most time you will be doing the job twice. Clearly we can't see your side (most folks just don't give details that are needed) but many of us have been there, done that in the past and sometimes I just wonder why I/we bother bother to try and help.

Gary, I didn't ignore your advice and I appreciate it, as well as the advice of everyone else that responded to my post. What I heard was that the access would be limited. Having seen the damage to the frame, it is my judgement that the access through the trunk is adequate. If I cut a hole in the trunk and find that it won't work, what have I lost? Some time and some fiberglass. If it will work, it will save me a great deal of time and money, not to mention the whole "you're not doing that in my garage" problem that I mentioned in my post. I guess that means doing the job in your garage is out of the question. All the best, Dan

Some times you have to do what you have to do.
If it can be done wrong I have. Thats how I learn. You can do the same if you please. I have a ruined Elan or two that I keep around as reminders and think I can offer some things from my experience. You are not the reason I wrote the post. You read most of the forum posts and see the same thing and if not than I can point out examples. I am not here to buddy buddy with friends, we have met and talked, folks know what I think cause I tell them. I have some friends they don't ever have to speak and you know what they are thinking. Some folks have more skill by light years than me but they call and ask for input on what they are doing, you have my phone number, call if you like.

Thanks, Gary. I certainly wouldn't want it to appear as though I wasn't listening. One thing that I think happens, is that a lot of you guys have so much experience, what seems easy to you is overwhelming to someone just beginning. I am tackling more and bigger projects every year, thanks to advice like yours and others on the forum. I am having a great time learning, but I do have to accept my limits. All the best, Dan
