Possible Takeover of Lotus by Jaguar 1964

Reading the latest edition of Octane magazine last night I was jolted awake by reading the following: "Another revelation is the correspondence between Sir William Lyons and Colin Chapman over the possible purchase of Lotus in 1964". This was in a review of a new book by Peter Wilson titled 'XJ13' and which Octane rate as their book of the month.

I have had a quick look through my Lotus books and can find no reference to this, so it would appear to be a 'revelation'. Anyone on here know any more?

I thought that it was a case of Jag buy Lotus and Chapman was to run the show so that Lyons could step down

There's a page or 2 on it in the "Colin Chapman - Wayward Genius" book, I forget the page numbers & am away from home at the moment...
